Best Skin Tag Removal in Honolulu
What Are Skin Tags?
Skin tags are small, soft, non-cancerous growths that typically appear on the surface of the skin. They are often flesh-colored or slightly darker and are usually attached by a thin stalk, giving them a raised appearance. These benign growths are common and can vary in size, from a few millimeters to several centimeters.
Skin tags are most often found in areas where the skin folds or experiences regular friction, such as the neck, underarms, eyelids, upper chest, and groin. Although they are harmless and painless, they can become irritated by clothing, jewelry, or shaving, which may lead to discomfort or inflammation. Many people choose to have them removed for cosmetic reasons or to eliminate irritation.
Understanding Cryopen Treatment
The Cryopen is an advanced cryotherapy device that is both FDA-approved and CE-marked, offering a safe and effective way to remove unwanted skin lesions. This innovative technology delivers a focused jet of nitrous oxide at extremely cold temperatures directly to the targeted tissue. This precise stream ensures that only the treatment area is affected while surrounding healthy skin remains untouched.
Cryopen is a non-invasive procedure, meaning there are no incisions, stitches, or lengthy recovery times involved. It is especially well-suited for removing small, superficial skin lesions, such as skin tags, milia, and dark spots caused by sun exposure or aging. The treatment is quick, requires no anesthesia, and is performed in-office with minimal discomfort.
What Skin Lesions Can Be Treated with Cryopen?
- Skin Tags
- Freckles and sunspots (hyperpigmented lesions)
- Milia (tiny, white cysts commonly found around the eyes and cheeks)
- Seborrheic keratosis (non-cancerous, wart-like growths)
- Cherry angiomas (small red spots caused by blood vessel clusters)
The Cryopen Procedure: What to Expect
- Initial Consultation: Before treatment begins, our trained skincare specialist will assess your skin and confirm whether Cryopen is the right solution for your lesion type. We take time to ensure safety and suitability before proceeding.
- Preparation: The skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepped to reduce the risk of infection. In some cases, a topical numbing cream may be applied for added comfort, although most patients tolerate the procedure well without it.
- Application: Using a pen-like applicator, the Cryopen delivers a focused stream of nitrous oxide directly to the base of the lesion. The cold energy instantly freezes the skin cells, cutting off the blood supply and causing the lesion to gradually dry up and fall off over the course of several days.
- Aftercare: Following treatment, the skin may appear red or slightly swollen. In most cases, a scab will form over the treated area, which will naturally shed within 7 to 14 days. You will be given detailed aftercare instructions to promote proper healing and minimize the risk of scarring.
