HOW DOES PICOSURE WORK?
Our PicoSure Focus Treatment in Honolulu Hawaii works with your body’s natural internal healing system to remove your tattoos and/or revitalize your skin. PressureWave technology is used to deliver ultra-short pulses of specialized energy to targeted ink particles; the ink is then broken apart into tiny dust-like particles. These tiny particles are then absorbed by the lymphatic system and eliminated naturally, reducing the appearance of your tattoo. To help you look younger with revitalized skin, this treatment taps into your body’s built-in ability to heal as well: When your skin cells are exposed to PressureWave technology, “cell signaling” occurs, prompting your body to release proteins. These released proteins then elicit a healing response, resulting in improved collagen and elastin production for a fresher, brighter, and younger look.
PicoSure’s special technology known as PressureWave™ uses a wavelength of light (755nm) and a specialized lens to convert laser energy into gentle pressure. This pressure squeezes cells, activating the natural cell signaling processes that create new collagen and elastin without burning or damaging the skin.
Does PicoSure® treatment hurt?
It is a very comfortable lunch time procedure. The average discomfort level reported by clients receiving treatment was 2 out of 10. It’s even less than getting Botox injections PicoSure® delivers energy in ultra-short bursts, and patients often compare the laser pulse to a snap of a thin rubber band.
Can I apply makeup after my PicoSure® treatment?
Absolutely yes.
Can I go under sun after my PicoSure® treatment?
It is always a good idea to avoid direct sunlight. However, due to unique technology of PicoSure®, the risk of skin burn is minimal.
What are the potential side effects of PicoSure® treatment?
Typical side effects include temporary redness and swelling at the treatment site, which usually resolved in less than 1 hour, but in some cases may linger for up to 24 hours. Unwanted pigmentation associated with the acne scarring should slightly frost (whiten) during treatment, then darken over the following 24 hours and then shed over time (2-5 days)
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM PICOSURE?
Our PicoSure Focus Treatment in Honolulu Hawaii is for those who want to remove their tattoos or improve the appearance of their skin without the risks, pain and downtime of traditional laser treatments. If you’re bothered by freckles, sunspots, tattoos, and other discolorations, PicoSure can help such pigment conditions. To activate cell signaling, the Focus Lens Array delivers 20X the energy density of a normal PicoSure pulse.
Pressure waves, formed and caused by Intra-epidermal Laser Induced Optical Breakdowns (LIOBs), propagate into the dermis, triggering pressure injuries to activate cells.
Initiating an enhanced inflammatory healing response, Cell Signaling leads to increased collagen and elastin. The result is brighter, healthier, younger looking and revitalized skin.
PicoSure’s unique energy delivery is a breakthrough for patients seeking a way to improve their skin and reduce signs of aging but doesn’t want to deal with the risks, pain, and downtime of traditional laser treatments. It uses high energy instead of heat to selectively destroy under skin discolorations and promotes elastin production, which results in skin firmness and reduction in appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The healing process after a Picosure laser treatment typically follows these stages:
- Immediately after treatment (Day 1–3):
- Redness, mild swelling, or a slight sunburn-like sensation is common. The treated area may appear darker or slightly inflamed. Some may experience pinpoint bleeding or crusting, depending on the treatment’s intensity.
- Darkening and crusting (Day 3–7):
- Pigmented areas may temporarily darken, and the skin might start to develop small scabs or crusts as the pigmentation breaks down. This is a normal part of the healing process.
- Exfoliation and fading (Week 1–2):
- The darkened pigment begins to shed, and any scabs or crusts will flake off. The skin may feel dry or slightly rough during this time as it regenerates.
- Initial improvement (Week 3–4):
- As the treated pigmentation fades, the skin starts to look clearer. Redness or swelling typically subsides, and the skin texture improves. The healing process continues beneath the surface.
- Week 4 and beyond:
after one treatment, some some improvements in pigmentation, clarity, and texture become little smoother. For pigmentation reduction, most clients take 4-6 treatments , depending on skin type, the size of dark spots and the issue being treated, and the number of sessions.
6, For acne scarrings, surgical scars , fine line and wrinkle treatments, A consecutive 6 treatments is recommended to see significant result . Treatment intervals are 4-6 weeks.but can be up to 8 weeks for darker skin types. Each patient is unique and will be evaluated prior to treatments.
7. Schedule Follow-Up Appointments: It’s important to have any scheduled follow-up appointments with your practitioner to achieve desired results.
Throughout the healing process, proper aftercare is essential, including moisturizing, avoiding sun exposure, and using sunscreen to protect the skin and optimize results
After a Picosure laser treatment, it is possible for pigmentation to temporarily darken before lightening as part of the healing process. This darkening, known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), is more common in individuals with darker skin tones. PIH typically begins to fade within 4 to 6 weeks, but in some cases, it can take several months to fully resolve. While the Pico laser is designed to minimize the risk of PIH compared to other lasers, it can still occur. Proper aftercare, including sun protection and following your dermatologist’s recommendations, can help manage and reduce the appearance of PIH.
• Please note: Melasma is one of the toughest skin conditions to treat and it may take several treatments to see results. Maintenance may also be needed to control this skin condition.
You can anticipate the effects of your first round of treatment to last for a long time. Most patients should expect to see the benefits of Picosure laser treatments for at least six months before they start to disappear
The results for this treatment will appear gradually as your skin’s natural regenerative abilities. For most patients, results are first visible about 2 or 3 weeks after the first appointment. Your results will continue to improve until your last treatment, or until optimal results have been achieved.
THE AFTERCARE:
- Avoid Sun Exposure: It’s crucial to avoid direct sun exposure for a few weeks after the treatment. The skin will be more sensitive, and sun exposure can lead to pigmentation issues. If you have to go outside, wear broad-spectrum sunscreen with a SPF 30+ and a wide-brimmed hat.and reapply sunscreen every two hours when you are outdoor.
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated. This will help in the healing process and also facilitate the production of collagen.
- Use Gentle Skincare Products: For a few days following the procedure, use gentle, fragrance-free cleansers and moisturizers. Avoid any skincare products with harsh chemicals or exfoliants. KEEP SKIN MOISTURIZED
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Refrain from using hot water on your face, and avoid activities that cause excessive sweating or heat, such as vigorous exercise, saunas, and steam rooms, for about 48 hours post-treatment.
- Minimize Makeup: If possible, avoid using makeup for the first 24-48 hours after the treatment. When you do start using makeup again, opt for mineral-based products that are less likely to irritate the skin.
- Do Not Pick or Scratch: There may be some peeling or flakiness as the skin heals. It’s essential not to pick or scratch the treated area, as this can cause scarring.
- Follow Medical Advice: If your practitioner has given you specific instructions or prescribed medication, make sure to follow these directions carefully.
- Cold Compress: If you experience any swelling or discomfort, you can use a cold compress to alleviate these symptoms. However, make sure not to apply ice directly to the skin; wrap it in a cloth or use a cold pack.
- Sleep with Head Elevated: Sleeping with your head slightly elevated can help reduce any swelling that might occur after the treatment.
- Schedule Follow-Up Appointments: It’s important to have any scheduled follow-up appointments with your practitioner to monitor the progress and discuss any concerns or questions you might have.
